BACKGROUND
Born in Riverside, California, Whitney attended Cerritos Community College prior to San Diego State University where she earned a degree in Journalism. Whitney began her track career as a shot putter in high school. She started to throw the discus her Junior year in college. In the short time of learning the discus, she won the 2012 Division I NCAA title with a throw of 59.99m (196ft 10in). Whitney was the first NCAA Champion for San Diego State University in 26 years.
Since graduating from college in 2012, Whitney has placed second at 2013 USA Nationals throwing 61.17m (200ft 7in) and making the 2013 USA World Championship team. In 2014 she continued to make positive strides in the event by improving her PB to 63.78 (209ft 2in) and in 2015, Whitney has continued to improve her PB by throwing 64.80m and placing 2nd at the USA National Championships and thus qualifying for her second USA World Championship team.
